Here is a detailed guide that will explain all the steps to unlock the iPhone and iPod Touch using the new pwnage tool on Mac OSX operating system. First we need to know what materials we need in order to jailbreak your device: Pwnage Tool, Firmware (. Ipsw) and, just in case we wanted to unlock an iPhone, we need also Bootloaders.

PreRequistes:
- Computer with a MacOS X
- Download PwnageTool_1.0.zip
- Download Firmware you want to jailbreak your device
- Download Bootloaders (Google it), which you need to dowload in order to unlock your iphone (iPod Touch don’t need them).

Step 1:
Run the Pwnage Tool application you just downloaded, and you see a screen like this:

Step 2:
Click on the Browse .ipsw button. and choose the firmware previously downloaded into your Mac.

Step 3:
Now click on the button iPwner which has become active:

Step 4:
You will see this message that tells you got to do next. in order to continue you need to put your iphone/itouch into recovery mode. To do this, connect your device to your computer and hold down the Power keys + home, until they appear onscreen icon itunes and cable:

Step 5:
At this point, you will be warned that the whole process has begun, and that you have to wait until your device reboots. During this process you will see the usual quick white text written on the screen:

Step 6:
Then after that is done your iPhone/iPod will be taken to the springboard and you can see all your apps. Now it is time to press the button IPSW Builder from the graphics Pwnage Tool. This will open a new window that lets you choose to “build” your new custom firmware! (I recommend that you use the settings selected in the image. All iPod users, you will see that all options are not selectable, apart from the last “Use custom DevTeam pictures.” It is better to clear it, otherwise you will replace Initial apple logo with the pineapple [icon Pwnage Tool], and the image that indicates to connect the terminal with serial cable to itunes, will be changed to that of the cartoon of Steve Jobs). If you have an ipod you can skip to step 9,since this steps are only for iphone.

Step 7:
Select OK, and you will be asked to select both bootloader files from your computer, version 3.9 and version 4.6:

Step 8:
As the pre-requisites you have already downloaded the file “bootloaders.rar”. and unrar them to the desktop for example, and then click the first button “Browse ..” in the application. Then you should select File “BL-39.bin” and click Open.

Repeat the same thing by clicking on the second button “Browse ..” from, and this time selecting the file “BL-46.bin”. Then click on OK.

Step 9:
At this point, you can save your new firmware you just customize. It will opens a window where you can choose the path where you want to save the new firmware. For your convenience you can select the Desktop, and I advise you not to rename the file. The new name will be identical to the default, adding “.. Custom_Restore” at the end, (and can be a good alternative to recognize the original, with this newly created). Your system may ask the administrator password during the creation of the new .ipsw firmware

Step 10:
You will see a succession written quickly, until you arrive at a point which read “Successfully Build Custom. Ipsw… files. The process has been completed and now you have a firmware already released, and running, ready to be loaded on your iPhone / iPod Touch, as always by a Recovering from iTunes.

Step 11:
The only thing we need to do is open iTunes, Click the Alt key on the keyboard, and simultaneously click with the mouse button on the Restore:

Step 12:
Select the Custom Firmware newly created with Pwnage Tool, (and not the original firmware) and click Open

Step 13:
Wait until Apple makes all steps, and you will then have a iPhone/iPod jailbroken, activated with installer and everything else! Also preserved forever your Custom_Restore because you can use it forever! It will not be necessary anymore to unlock the firmware every time, but you should simply call up your firmware already created to return your iphone into the activate step
